Because from Christ’s Crown of Thorns, Mary was able to bloom into the Queen of Heaven.
There was a little fairy tale I was told when I was young – every time you pray a Hail Mary, you’re giving Mary a rose. Whenever you pray a Rosary, you’re actually weaving her a Crown of Roses.
So I always pictured myself sitting with Mary in front of the place where whatever Mystery I was praying happened, and we’re watching the scene from the Bible play out while I’m threading de-thorned roses together. At the end, Mary has her crown.
I wish the Luminous Mysteries were around when I was little, because I would have liked to imagine them as well, and they were actually images of Christ’s Ministry.
