“Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:6-7)
In today’s second reading, St. Paul reminds us that in the midst of the chaos of the world–from devastating natural disasters, senseless shootings and violence, to political turmoil, and much more–we are called to put our money where our mouth is. In other words, we are called to have an unshakeable faith and an undivided trust in the God of peace. While sometimes easier said than done, Paul is reminding us of the great need to pray and enter into relationship with God. We must pray constantly, not simply when it is convenient, not simply when our world is shattered, not simply when tragedy strikes…but we must pray always! When we remain close to the source of all goodness, namely God, we have no need to feel anxious or despair, because we know the peace that He is capable of giving us! Have a blessed Sunday, dear friends!
