According to the Catholic news portal CCM, Mexico is the most dangerous country in Latin America for priests. “For the ninth year in a row, and even though no wars are being fought on our soil, our country is the nation with the highest number of murders of priests,” said priest and journalist Sergio Omar Sotelo Aguilar.
“Killing a priest also sets an example, symbolises a demonstration of power by the criminal organisations.”
A cardinal and 47 priests were murdered
The research department of CCM maintains an exact and up-to-date register of priests, religious and lay persons in the service of the church who lost their lives or received serious threats in 2017. Similar to journalists, they have also become the targets of organised crime because they are considered to be opinion leaders who have joined the fight against the organisations. Organised crime has become even more powerful because it has formed alliances with politicians, judges and certain circles within the police and security forces. “It causes decay in society from top to bottom!”
The situation is becoming more and more dire
In this nation of 120 million inhabitants, 80 per cent of which are Catholic, the authorities reacted to most of the murders with complete indifference. In the last five years, 19 priests and two lay persons were murdered. Two priests are still missing. This has to change, Father Sergio Omar said, “We cannot remain silent as the blood of thousands of Mexicans is shed. This is why we are directing an urgent appeal to the federal government of Mexico, to the authorities of the various states and to the city governments: we want them all to guarantee that pastoral care can safely be carried out in regions beset by uncontrolled, growing violence. We cannot remain silent!”

A week ago, I was presiding at the funeral of my father. But there’s a story behind this picture I took with @br.anthonyfreeman funeral card above my dad’s coffin last week. – Some of you you might know that the day my father died I was attending my friend seminarian’s @br.anthonyfreeman funeral services. While we were at Mass, during the moment of communion, as us priests were processing toward the altar to receive the most blessed Body and Blood of Christ, I passed by Anthony’s casket and experienced an overwhelming spiritual feeling that my dad was dying at that moment. I spontaneously prayed to Bro. Anthony, asking him to help my dad enter into Heaven and open for him the gates of Paradise. After we finished Mass, I discovered the missed call from my mom on my cell phone and got the news my dad had died. – Before we closed my dad’s coffin a week later, I prayed again to @br.anthonyfreeman and put his card on my dad’s pocket. I know Anthony accompanied my dad to Heaven!

Ted Bundy was one of the worst serial killers in history. On the night of January 15, 1978, at 3:00 am, Bundy murdered two girls in the Chi Omega sorority house at Florida State University – he entered a third room, but fled when he saw a girl clutching a rosary in her hands. Later the girl explained that she had promised her grandmother to pray the rosary every night when she went to bed, even if she fell asleep while praying. Years later, when Bundy was awaiting his execution, he asked for a priest. The priest, Fr. Esper, asked him what happened that night. Bundy said he intended to murder the girl, but “some mysterious power prevented him.”

We know nothing about the inside of our neighbor’s heart, and hence, we refuse to forgive. Jesus knew the heart inside out, and because He did know, He forgave. Take any scene of action, let five people look upon it, and you will get five different stories of what happened. No one of them sees all sides. Our Lord does, and that is why He forgives. Why is it that we can find excuses for our anger against our neighbor, yet we refuse to admit the same excuses when our neighbor is angry with us? We say others would forgive us if they understood us perfectly, and that the only reason they are angry with us is because “they do not understand.” Why is not that ignorance reversible? Can we not be as ignorant of their motives, as we say they are ignorant of ours? Does not our refusal to find an excuse for their hatred tacitly mean that, under similar circumstances, we ourselves will be unfit to be forgiven? Ignorance of ourselves is another reason for forgiving others. Unfortunately it is ourselves we know least; our neighbor’s sins, weaknesses, and failures we know a thousand times better than our own. Criticism of others may be bad, but it is want of self-criticism which is worse.

“In dangers, in doubts, in difficulties, think of Mary, call upon Mary. Let not her name depart from your lips, never suffer it to leave your heart. And that you may obtain the assistance of her prayer, neglect not to walk in her footsteps. With her for guide, you shall never go astray; while invoking her, you shall never lose heart; so long as she is in your mind, you are safe from deception; while she holds your hand, you cannot fall; under her protection you have nothing to fear; if she walks before you, you shall not grow weary; if she shows you favor, you shall reach the goal.” -Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, Father and Doctor of the Church

Rome, Italy (April 9, 2018): A message from the North American Territorial Director, Fr. John Connor, LC, to all Regnum Christi members from the first day of the Extraordinary General Assembly of Regnum Christi.
Regnum Christi (Latin for “Kingdom of Christ”) is one Movement (within the Catholic Church) comprised of four vocations: Legionaries of Christ (priestly congregation), Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi, Lay Consecrated Men of Regnum Christi and the Lay Members of Regnum Christi. Regnum Christi has a Christ-Centered spirituality that is lived together in communion with all members (all four vocations), in union with the whole Church, and through a mission to build the kingdom of Christ. Regnum Christi also includes diocesan priests and permanent deacons.
The whole Regnum Christi Movement is made up of 30,000 members throughout 38 countries world-wide working as Jesus did to: Reveal Christ’s love to people, form them as apostles and launch them in their God-given mission to build the Kingdom of Christ.
Regnum Christi tries to foster in its members a spirit of initiative and a deep love for the Church. It aims to remind them of their baptismal duty to make the faith a key part of all their relationships — in their families, parishes, workplaces and social circles.
If you want more information about Regnum Christi or its publications or activities, or if you want to know how you can serve the Church, contact them at email@example.com.

It is Jesus who stirs in you the desire to do something great with your lives
Eighth Day: Today bring to Me the Souls who are in the prison of Purgatory and immerse them in the abyss of My mercy. Let the torrents of My Blood cool down their scorching flames. All these souls are greatly loved by Me. They are making retribution to My justice. It is in your power to bring them relief. Draw all the indulgences from the treasury of My Church and offer them on their behalf. Oh, if you only knew the torments they suffer, you would continually offer for them the alms of the spirit and pay off their debt to My justice.“ Most Merciful Jesus, You Yourself have said that You desire mercy; so I bring into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls in Purgatory, souls who are very dear to You, and yet, who must make retribution to Your justice. May the streams of Blood and Water which gushed forth from Your Heart put out the flames of Purgatory, that there, too, the power of Your mercy may be celebrated.
Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls suffering in Purgatory, who are enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. I beg You, by the sorrowful Passion of Jesus Your Son, and by all the bitterness with which His most sacred Soul was flooded: Manifest Your mercy to the souls who are under Your just scrutiny. Look upon them in no other way but only through the Wounds of Jesus, Your dearly beloved Son; for we firmly believe that there is no limit to Your goodness and compassion. Amen.

Congratulations to our great friend @fathercapo for being appointed by our Holy Father. Please keep Father Capo, the Missionaries of Mercy, and our Holy Father in your prayers.
“There is no misery that could be a match for My mercy, neither will misery exhaust it, because as it is being granted-it increases. The soul that trusts in My mercy is most fortunate, because I myself take care of it.” -St. Faustina’s Diary
Message from @fathercapo:
It is with great joy and gratitude to His Holiness Pope Francis that I received his appointment as a Missionary of Mercy. As all Missionaries of Mercy have been summoned by the Holy Father to meet with him this coming week in Rome for days of reflection, I thank the Lord for this commissioning to share the joy of the Gospel and the message of mercy through my apostolate in the Church of Southeast USA and the priestly ministry of confession. I will appreciate your prayers during the coming days, as we gather with Pope Francis before being sent out again to share the message of Divine Mercy.

@br.anthonyfreeman Rest in peace, my brother. May the angels lead you into paradise. Please pray for us before the Risen Lord. He called you way too soon, as you had just finished your Spiritual Exercises and had just served Easter Sunday Mass with Pope Francis. I was looking forward to attending your ordination and meeting up with you next week in Rome. Please pray for us as we try to witness to the Joy of the Gospel among our young people, striving for holiness, showing our youth the way to holiness by staying strong in body, mind, and spirit. I will treasure our conversations, friendship, and your witness of faith, even here on IG as @catholic_life_coach. Rest in peace, my brother.
