Message from #PapaFrancisco for his trip to Ireland:
Dear friends, Before making my visit, in a few days, to Ireland for the World Meeting of Families, I send a warm greeting to all the Irish people: “I’m excited to think I’ll come back to Ireland!” I assure you of my closeness, my prayer and I invite you to pray for me, I need it. From the heart, I give you my blessing.
PRAYER FOR POPE FRANCIS
O God, shepherd and ruler of all the faithful, look favorably on your servant Francis, whom you have set at the head of your Church as her shepherd;
Grant, we pray, that by word and example he may be of service to those over whom he presides so that, together with the flock entrusted to his care, he may come to everlasting life.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

President of U.S. Bishops’ Conference Response to Pope Francis’s Letter to the People of God
August 20, 2018
WASHINGTON—Cardinal Daniel N. DiNardo of Galveston-Houston, President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), has issued the following statement in response to Pope Francis’s Letter to the People of God, issued earlier today. In his letter addressed to the whole People of God, the Pope calls on the Church to join in acts of prayer and fasting in “combatting all forms of abuse of power, sexual abuse and the abuse of conscience.” Cardinal DiNardo’s full statement follows: “I am grateful to the Holy Father for his Letter to the People of God, responding to the Pennsylvania Grand Jury investigation and other revelations that have surfaced. The very fact that he opens the letter with the words of Saint Paul: ‘If one part suffers, all parts suffer with it’ (1 Cor 12:25), shows that he is writing to all of us as a pastor, a pastor who knows how deeply sin destroys lives. I find these words of the Holy Father particularly helpful: ‘penance and prayer will help us to open our eyes and our hearts to other people’s sufferings and to overcome the thirst for power and possessions that are so often the root of those evils.’ These words must provoke action – especially by the bishops. We bishops need to– and we must – practice with all humility such prayer and penance. “The Holy Father is also inviting, and I am asking this as well, that all the faithful join in prayer and fasting as a way to help foster conversion and genuine change of life wherever it is needed, even in the shepherds of the Church. Jesus remarked once, ‘This kind can only come out through prayer and fasting’ (Mark 9:29); a humble reminder that such acts of faith can move mountains and can even bring about true healing and conversion. “On behalf of my brother bishops, I offer that only by confronting our own failure in the face of crimes against those we are charged to protect can the Church resurrect a culture of life where the culture of death has prevailed.”

We become like that which we love. If we love what is base, we become base; but if we love what is noble, we become noble. // Blessed Fulton J. Sheen // there is something truly heroic to living an authentic life and vocation that does not conform to society, but instead conforms society to God // heroism can be found in the most simple places – we just have to be willing to be find little comfort in this life

How Catholics Can Welcome LGBT Believers
This is about defending ourselves, children, and future generation from a demonic ideology that says children do not need mothers and fathers. It denies human nature and wants to cut off entire generations from God.
The Cardinal said that while experiencing attraction to people of the same sex is not in itself sinful, same-sex relations are “gravely sinful and harmful to the well-being of those who partake in them.” The #LGBT community are owed this truth in charity.

Roma Day 16: today’s highlight hands down was spending the evening with Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke who joined us for dinner, a great discussion capped off with a Rosary. I am always amazed at how gracious and generous he is. He has been unfairly characterized by some, so please pray for him and the important ministry he does for the Church. Besides classes, we also went to a number of beautiful churches and found a film crew on our roof when we got home. Just another amazing day here in the Eternal City.

Physician-assisted suicide is part of a “throwaway culture” that offers a “false compassion” and treats a human person as a problem, Pope Francis told medical leaders.
“True compassion does not marginalize anyone, nor does it humiliate and exclude – much less considers the disappearance of a person as a good thing,” the Pope said. He criticized “those who hide behind an alleged compassion to justify and approve the death of a patient.”
Compassion is a necessary part of the medical profession, Pope Francis stressed.
“The dignity of human life is at stake. The dignity of the medical vocation is at stake.”
Pope Francis reflected on the theological aspects of health and medicine. In the biblical tradition, there is a close link between health and salvation.
“The Fathers of the Church used to refer to Christ and His work of salvation with the title ‘Christus Medicus’ (Christ the Doctor),” the Pope explained. “He is the Good Shepherd who cares for the wounded sheep and comforts the sick. He is the Good Samaritan who does not pass by the injured person at the roadside, but rather, moved by compassion, cures and attends to him.”
The Pope added he likes to bless doctors’ hands as a sign to recognize “this compassion that becomes the caress of health.”

“The whole priestly ministry of Padre Pio was lived in sacramental union with the crucified Christ,” he said. “It was as if the Lord said to him, ‘You’re not just a priest, you’re also a victim like me.’”
Dear God, You generously blessed Your servant,
St. Pio of Pietrelcina,
with the gifts of the Spirit.
You marked his body with the five wounds
of Christ Crucified, as a powerful witness
to the saving Passion and Death of Your Son.
Endowed with the gift of discernment,
St. Pio labored endlessly in the confessional
for the salvation of souls.
With reverence and intense devotion
in the celebration of Mass,
he invited countless men and women
to a greater union with Jesus Christ
in the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.
Through the intercession of St. Pio of Pietrelcina,
I confidently beseech You to grant me
the grace of (here state your petition).
Glory be to the Father… (three times). Amen.
