Another person once remarked : “Some years ago, I had a heart attack. The doctors recommended I undergo surgery to improve my condition. I entered the hospital at once. It was in June 1991. During the surgery, the doctors did a quadruple bypass. When I awoke from the anesthesia, my leg and right arm were paralyzed. I was really discouraged. After awhile, my faith returned and I began to pray to Padre Pio for help. I pleaded with him for three days. On the third day, as I was finishing my prayer, despite being surrounded by other patients, I noticed something significant. I caught a whiff of an overwhelming aroma of flowers. When the perfumed aroma faded, I felt a sensation in my right leg. I knew at once my prayers had been answered.”

A question to St. Josemaría Escrivá: “Father, …

A question to St. Josemaría Escrivá:
“Father, what is your advice to a newlywed couple seeking holiness?”

“First, love each other very much, in accordance with God’s law. Second, don’t be afraid of life; love each other’s defects as long as they don’t offend God; and, for the wife: don’t neglect the way you look, because you’re no longer your own! You’ve been told, and you know it’s true, that you belong to your husband, and he belongs to you. Don’t let anyone steal him from you!

He is a soul who should go to Heaven with you, and what’s more, who should give real Christian quality, and human quality, to the children God sends you. Pray together. Not a lot, but a little every day. When you forget, he can remind you, and when he forgets, you remind him. Don’t scold him when he does something wrong, and don’t nag.”
-St. Josemaría, Colegio Tabancura, Chile, July 1974

@br.anthonyfreeman Rest in peace, my brother. May the angels lead you into paradise. Please pray for us before the Risen Lord. He called you way too soon, as you had just finished your Spiritual Exercises and had just served Easter Sunday Mass with Pope Francis. I was looking forward to attending your ordination and meeting up with you next week in Rome. Please pray for us as we try to witness to the Joy of the Gospel among our young people, striving for holiness, showing our youth the way to holiness by staying strong in body, mind, and spirit. I will treasure our conversations, friendship, and your witness of faith, even here on IG as @catholic_life_coach. Rest in peace, my brother.

Today, the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows commemorates the seven great sorrows which Mary lived in relation to Her Son, as they are recorded in the Gospels or through Tradition. Today we are invited to reflect on Mary’s deep suffering:

1. At the prophecy of Simeon: “You yourself shall be pierced with a sword – so that the thoughts of many hearts may be laid bare.” (Luke 2:35).
2. At the flight into Egypt; “Get up, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt.” (Mt 2:13).
3. Having lost the Holy Child at Jerusalem; “You see that your father and I have been searching for you in sorrow.” (Luke 2:48).
4. Meeting Jesus on his way to Calvary;
5. Standing at the foot of the Cross; “Near the cross of Jesus there stood His mother.” (John 19:25).
6. Jesus being taken from the Cross;
7. At the burial of Christ.

Our Lady of Sorrows, pray for us! #Catholic #faith #prayer #Mary
